There is nothing quite like the experience of flying a Dash 8. I snapped this shot (probably in violation of federal law) on the tarmac at Portland International Airport as we were boarding my Air Canada Jazz flight to Vancouver this morning.
With its huge over-wing props, it’s more like a vibrator than an airplane. And the view from window seats are just superb!
Today I made my first-ever trip to Portland, Oregon — a very quick one at that — and this is about as much of the city as I saw:
Just kidding — I also saw this, my room and the lobby at the Hotel Monaco (another from my fav chain, Kimpton):
But that was about it! I did get to wander around the uber-cool Pearl District a bit, and it was really neat. The industrial chic of the area was made even cooler late at night by some fog and a light mist. So Pac Northwest. I can’t wait to come back!
